Dr. Miriam Bates is from a small, coastal town in New Zealand.  Dr. Bates received her veterinary degree at Massey University in New Zealand. She fell in love with small animal surgery during an internship at Veterinary Specialists Aotearoa.  Dr. Bates completed a small animal rotating internship at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, followed by a residency in small animal surgery at Purdue University in Indiana.
